YAMHILL COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Yamhill County Historical Society was officially organized by the citizens of the county in 1957. The purpose of the society is to gather, preserve, and make available museum records and other materials relating to the history of Yamhill County and Oregon; to stimulate an interest in, and knowledge of the locality's past.
Regular meetings are scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month except during the summer months of June, July, and August. Potluck meetings held in the evening provide an opportunity for members to have a business meeting and have a speaker or program related to the history of the county.
Membership in the Yamhill County Historical Society is $15.00 per year for an individual and $25.00 for a family.
Membership brings the Yamhill County Historical Society's monthly newsletter (9 months of the year). Because the Society operates on a strictly volunteer basis, both in money and labor, members and friends are encouraged to help with the continuing upkeep of the museum and its contents. Three buildings now hold the contents of the collection.
A new museum is in the early planning stages, to be located on a 12 acre parcel donated to the society. Plans are still in the formulation stage. The property lies at the southeast corner of the intersection of Durham Lane and Highway 18, 1 mile southwest of McMinnville.
We are located at 605 Market Street in Lafayette. We encourage a $2 visitor donation per visit (includes family): members admitted free of charge.
Museum Hours:
Year around: Wednesdays & Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
